Nothing screams “pro life” quite like inviting Americans to watch a man die by firing squad. How very Christian! Republicans tried to ban drag shows to protect children from offensive entertainment. Now Trump’s Pentagon wants to livestream an execution. Suddenly the answer is, “Offended? Don’t watch!” How convenient. The party that preaches the sanctity of life supports capital punishment, cuts healthcare, detains immigrant families, and now proposes turning death into a public spectacle. Christian author Brennan Manning warned: “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips … deny Him by their lifestyle.” Republicans, if you intend to govern in the name of Christian values, perhaps start practicing them. You cannot claim the moral high ground while turning government sanctioned killing into entertainment. Congress, stop this broadcast. Your religious hypocrisy is becoming your legacy.
