Dear Mr. President and Esteemed Members of Congress,
I write to you in utter despair, with an urgency that demands immediate action. Today, in Gaza, Mohammed Abuel-Qomasan mourns the unimaginable loss of his wife, his four-day-old twin babies — a boy, Asser, and a girl, Ayssel — and his wife’s mother, all killed in an Israeli airstrike. The image of this father, holding the birth certificates of his newborns in the ruins of his home, should haunt us all.
This is not just another statistic; this is the destruction of a family, a man’s world obliterated in an instant. Mohammed's story is one of countless others — families torn apart, innocent lives snuffed out, children orphaned before they had a chance to begin.
The Israeli assault on Gaza is leaving a trail of devastation that can no longer be ignored. As doctors in Gaza struggle to cope with the overwhelming number of casualties, they now use the acronym WCNSF: "wounded child, no surviving family." This shorthand for mass tragedy should wake every person of conscience, especially those of you who hold the reins of power.
I demand justice for Mohammed Abuel-Qomasan and countless other Palestinians who have lost everything. The U.S. must cease support for Israel's military actions that are leading to the systematic destruction of an entire people. Not a single cent of American taxpayer money should fund this brutality. I call on you to impose a total arms embargo on Israel until it ends its campaign against the Palestinian people.
This is not merely a political issue; it is a profound moral crisis. The world is watching, and history will judge us by our response. Will we allow this genocide to continue, or will we finally take a stand for humanity and justice? The choice is yours and will define this nation’s legacy.
I demand you respond to this letter not with platitudes but with concrete actions. Explain why you continue to support a state engaged in what the world increasingly recognizes as ethnic cleansing. Explain why the cries of Palestinian children, the anguish of fathers like Mohammed, and the shattered lives of countless families are not enough to move you to action.
The time for silence and complicity is over. The time for justice is now.
