Stop illegal deportation to Central African Republic NOW

To: Rep. Gillen, Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer

From: A constituent in North Baldwin, NY

June 10

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to stop the deportation of immigrants to the Central African Republic. The U.S. State Department currently warns citizens not to travel there due to the risks of unrest, crime, kidnapping, landmines, health dangers, and terrorism. Sending people to a country under such severe danger is not a responsible immigration policy; it is a human rights abuse. Reports indicate that the Central African Republic has agreed to accept deportees from the United States under a third-country arrangement. At the same time, independent humanitarian assessments describe the country as facing ongoing violence by armed groups, civilian killings, kidnappings, forced displacement, and other grave abuses. These conditions make deportation there especially dangerous and morally indefensible. No person should be forced into a situation where their safety and dignity are put at risk by a government action. I urge you to publicly oppose these deportations, demand transparency about any such agreements, and support policies that protect due process and human rights. Please act now to prevent the United States from contributing to avoidable harm.
