Investigate Potential Termination of TURNOUT PAC and Donor Fund Allocation

To: Rep. Schneider, Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Round Lake, IL

November 23

I am writing to express my concern about the potential termination of TURNOUT PAC, a Super PAC registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and to request an investigation into the allocation of donor funds in the event of its dissolution. TURNOUT PAC, based in Chicago, IL, was established on January 17, 2018, as an unauthorized, independent expenditure-only committee. While it has been actively engaged in political fundraising and spending, there are questions about its current status and the fate of its financial resources if terminated. As a constituent deeply invested in the integrity of our campaign finance system, I believe it is crucial to ensure that donor funds are properly accounted for and appropriately distributed in the event of a PAC's termination. The FEC's oversight is essential in maintaining transparency and accountability in our political process. I respectfully request that you initiate an investigation into TURNOUT PAC's current status and its plans for any remaining funds should it cease operations. Specifically, I urge you to: 1. Determine if TURNOUT PAC is indeed facing termination or has plans to dissolve. 2. If termination is imminent or has occurred, investigate the committee's plan for allocating remaining donor funds. 3. Ensure that any distribution of funds complies with FEC regulations and campaign finance laws. 4. Make the findings of this investigation publicly available to maintain transparency. The financial activity of TURNOUT PAC from January 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020, involved significant fundraising and spending. It is crucial to account for these funds and ensure they are not misused or improperly allocated upon termination. Your prompt attention to this matter will help maintain the integrity of our campaign finance system and reassure donors that their contributions are handled responsibly, even in the event of a committee's dissolution. Thank you for your dedication to upholding the standards of financial accountability in our political process.
