Don’t Let Them Destroy the CFPB

To: Rep. Clyde, Sen. Warnock, Sen. Ossoff

From: A constituent in Hoschton, GA

April 21

I’m deeply concerned about the Trump administration’s attempt to gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by firing 90% of its staff. While a court has temporarily blocked the move, this agency is still very much under threat—because it works for regular people, not corporate lobbyists. We cannot let the CFPB be defunded or defanged. This is what government looks like when it’s working for us. The CFPB was built to keep banks in check and protect consumers from scams, fraud, and shady data practices. And it’s done its job: recovering or forgiving over $21 billion for consumers and saving billions more by curbing outrageous fees. If you care about holding big banks accountable, now’s the time to act. Please do whatever you can to support and sustain the CFPB’s funding.
