The abrupt rewrite of the Social Security Administration's entire codebase within a few months is an extremely risky endeavor that threatens to disrupt the timely delivery of benefits to millions of Americans. Disruptions could cause immense hardship for legitimaterecipients who rely on these payments for basic necessities. There appears to be no legitimate justification for such a rushed and haphazard overhaul of systems that are currently functional. This ill-advised undertaking by DOGE has the potential to create systemic failures which could then be weaponized to falsely portray Social Security as a broken program requiring privatization. Safeguarding this vital social safety net should be the priority. Hasty actions that jeopardize its reliable operation must be prevented to protect beneficiaries and uphold the integrity of the program.
