Halt Bribes for Votes I am writing to induce you to take immediate action against the blatant misuse of financial promises to influence elections. President Donald Trump’s proposal of a $5,000 "Trump Dividend" for every adult citizen, contingent strictly on Republicans retaining control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections, crosses a dangerous threshold into public vote-buying. Conditioning direct taxpayer or federal payouts on specific electoral outcomes undermines the core foundation of our democratic process. Public funds and legislative power must serve the national interest, not act as financial inducements to secure party power. A proposal that trades public money for votes—costing taxpayers over $1 trillion—erodes public trust, degrades election integrity, and sets a precedent where political office is bought with treasury promises.
