Some parts of the federal government are grinding to a halt and it’s not because of a shutdown. It’s because of Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE’s sweeping budget cuts and spending freezes have stalled critical government functions across multiple agencies. Scientists can’t even publish their research. At the Energy Department, some staff can’t access their own labs. FEMA is canceling disaster planning exercises. And grant recipients, especially those in clean energy, are stuck in limbo, waiting for approval to keep working. Even the Interior Department and NOAA are feeling the squeeze, with key programs frozen or slowed to a crawl. This isn’t “efficiency.” This is sabotage, plain and simple. Essential government work is being dismantled under the guise of streamlining. But the real result? We’re less prepared, less informed, and less protected. What actions are doing to fix this! Words are not enough.
