Today, we saw the leaders of the South Korean parliament put up the fight of their lives against an authoritarian coup attempt. They put their bodies on the line and fought to preserve their democracy, and they won. I hope that you are taking note. We are entering a period of crisis where the United States could reach the same point, and frankly I am worried that Democrats will not meet it. There is no urgency around the truly unhinged picks for the Trump cabinet, and we see Senator Schumer and Speaker Jeffries talking about bipartisanship. I do not understand how you can campaign and tell us democracy is on the line -- rightly! -- and then act like this. It is shameful. If the Democratic party is not ready to stand up for us now, when will they? I hope you will look at South Korea and see what you need to be willing to do. If you are *not* ready to defend us with that level of vigor, then you need to get out of the way and let someone else take your place who is. If you are, I hope you will do the far easier task of blocking every attempt by Trump to put his cronies in power. Republicans fought with faux outrage against Obama harder than most of you seem to be willing to fight against an actual threat! I ask you, as someone I voted for, to please start treating this situation with the grave seriousness it deserves, and encourage your colleagues to as well. And please, for the love of God, do it visibly! I don't care how hard you fight behind closed doors if those of us on the outside can't see it! Show us that you can actually meet the moment we are in!
