Millions of people took to the streets in the biggest protests in US history to tell Trump his time is up, and the message came through loud and clear. Americans gathered for one reason: to tell our government that we see them, they’ve failed us, and we’re not going to take it anymore. In all, 8 million people showed up at over 3100 protests in cities all across the country (and world). There’s no way Trump and the Republicans could tune that out. It shouldn’t surprise anybody that these protests have gathered so much momentum, considering Donald Trump is at the lowest point of approval in his presidency. And he’s brought this all on himself. Because - and I’ve been saying this all along - Donald Trump is for one person. Himself. Everything he does is meant to make sure he’s comfortable, taken care of, surrounded by riches, opulence, and wealth. Meanwhile, Americans are poorer, sicker, and hungrier than they’ve ever been. And the fact that it’s happening at the hands of a populist president goes to show that this was a con from day one. And by the way, he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew what it meant to tap into the pain that Americans were feeling in the lead up to this election. He was perfectly content to exploit people’s pain so that he could help himself, with no intention of fixing any of the problems he was exploiting. Let me ask you all a question: where are all the pro-Trump marches? Where are the boat parades? I’m thinking that maybe the reason they disappeared is because no one voted for ICE to terrorize our streets and slaughter Americans. No one voted for a price hike on everything. No one voted to cut healthcare and food assistance. And no one voted to spend billions of dollars per day on another stupid war in the Middle East. This whole country - left, right, and center - has woken up to the bill of goods being sold to us by this government and the Republican Party. They cosplayed as populist champions, but they have done more for the oil companies than for working class Americans. They have done more for Epstein’s accomplices than for working class Americans. They have spent more taxpayer money at Mar-a-lago than they have helping Americans. They have done more to renovate the White House than for working class Americans. The east wing of the White House is a great metaphor for Trump's presidency. ...but that’s what happens when your government decides that it’s no longer accountable to the people. When the president views himself as a king and his majorities in Congress view themselves as appendages of their ruler. When they think they can ignore popular pressure. You haven't seen anything yet.
