The so-called "Executive Order on Promoting Free and Fair Elections" from the Trump administration seeks to impose unprecedented nationwide requirements for voter identification, standardized vote tabulation, and federally-approved voting machines. It represents a blatant and extreme overreach of federal power into a domain that has historically been the exclusive province of individual states to regulate their own electoral processes as guaranteed by the Constitution.
