I’m writing to demand immediate action to stop harmful public-health misinformation and ensure the U.S. health advisory structure is staffed by qualified scientists and medically trained experts.
This is a direct result of extreme antivax messaging and the apparent replacement of scientific decision-makers with non-scientists, which has contributed to severe real-world outcomes. People are getting sick and dying, with worse long-term health outcomes—including preventable complications from measles.
Measles is not a safe way to “develop immunity.” The CDC has reported measles case counts that have already exceeded the total for all of 2025, with the U.S. on track to have the worst year since 1991.
I request that you:
1) Hold hearings or compel testimony on how public-health guidance and advisory appointments are being influenced by political or non-scientific actors.
2) Protect and prioritize evidence-based vaccination and outbreak response policies.
3) Require transparent reporting on advisory board staffing qualifications and decision processes.
4) Support rapid, science-based interventions for outbreak control in affected states.
Please provide, in writing, what you will do in the next 30 days and who in your office will be responsible for follow-up.
