Uphold Title IX protections for LGBTQ+ students and staff The governor does not have this authority. The LGBTQ+ community has the same rights as cis gender white Christian males like the corrupt Texas governor. Title IX seeks to uphold fundamental civil rights and prevent discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation in educational settings. Gov. Abbott's directive opposing the federal policy disregards the equal protection and dignity owed to LGBTQ+ students and staff. It undermines efforts to create safe, inclusive learning environments where all can thrive without bias. Refusing compliance with Title IX jeopardizes critical federal funding meant to support Texas colleges and universities. This ignorance of federal law is hateful and dangerous. I urge you to stand for equal rights and reject this attempt to circumvent anti-discrimination laws that safeguard vulnerable groups. Upholding Title IX upholds American values of liberty and justice for all.
