I am a transgender woman, barely two years into the most impactful journey of my life. I am living in persistent terror at what might happen to me or those I love under the current administration, which has repeatedly and terrifyingly demonized myself and people like me in a blatant distraction against their rampant dismantling of constitutional rights and law.
I have harmed no one, seek to harm no one, and I wish only to live without fear. The stoking of bigotry and hatred is a blatant and desperate grasp at keeping things the way they were, when they were easier to control, and I and so many others are caught in the crossfire. It is hard for me to explain the fear and helplessness I feel every day.
Please, I implore those in power to resist what is being done, for the sake of countless vulnerable people, I beg that the resistance does not stop. History will not look back kindly on those who hold back humanitarian progress and liberties, as has always been the case.
