confront the Trump Administration

To: Sen. Sanders, Rep. Balint, Sen. Welch

From: A verified voter in Waterville, VT

January 20

They say that “no one is above the law”, but to my eyes, that clearly isn’t true. Donald Trump and his Administration have broken so many laws over the past year, both domestic and international, and yet they’ve faced no consequences. Why is that? A politics of weakness and appeasement has not stopped this lawlessness — which is not a surprise — and unfortunately very few people have stepped up to directly confront the Trump Administration. I am asking you to do your part in this confrontation. I recognize that members of Congress in the minority party don’t have a ton of leverage, but you do have *some*. Please use it, aggressively and creatively. Just to be clear, I fully support all legal actions to remove Donald Trump and implicated Cabinet members from office, whether that be through Impeachment or invoking the 25th Amendment (for Trump). But there are other ways: withholding votes for key budgets, public messaging about future accountability once in the majority once more, forming legislative coalitions to reign in an out of control Executive. Please, I want to see more of this coming from you. Vermont is a small state, but we can still be mighty.
