Any policy restricting trans healthcare that cites the McMaster University studies commissioned by the Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) must be immediately disqualified. Internal documents obtained through a public records request reveal that SEGM paid McMaster over CA$300,000 and was granted editorial control and veto power over the research methods. That is not science — it is purchased advocacy. Full details are documented here: https://theneedlenews.com/2026/08/how-a-hate-group-funded-and-controlled-research-from-mcmaster-university/
The three resulting studies, on mastectomies, HRT, and puberty blockers for people under 26, have already done real damage. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons cited the McMaster mastectomy review when advising against the procedure for anyone under 19. Policies are being built on a foundation designed from the start to reach predetermined conclusions.
These studies must be formally discredited and stripped from any policy justification that relies on them. Call for a review of every policy or guideline that cites this compromised research, and oppose any new restrictions on trans healthcare that use it as cover.
