Being able to blanket-label charity organizations as "terroristic" is an overreach of the government and will allow them to defund organizations that go against what members of our government agree with, which is an overreach. This bill, HR 9495, could also be weaponized against organizations whose views the government opposes. The Attorney General would have sweeping and unchecked powers to monitor and obstruct legitimate religious and nonprofit activities under the guise of countering "misinformation." Such measures pose a severe threat to the free exercise of religion and free association, violating core constitutional protections. As a nation founded on principles of religious freedom and civil liberties, we cannot accept legislation that enables this level of government overreach and suppression of fundamental rights.
