I am writing out of frustration and deep concern over Elon Musk’s increasing involvement in government affairs. No one elected him, yet he seems to have an outsized influence on policies that affect millions of Americans. His unchecked meddling—whether in national security matters, space contracts, social media platforms, or even geopolitical conflicts—is not just inappropriate but dangerous. Musk has repeatedly used his wealth and influence to serve his own interests while pretending to act in the public good. From interfering with Ukraine’s access to Starlink to amplifying conspiracy theories and undermining democratic institutions, he has proven time and time again that he is not accountable to anyone but himself. His reckless decisions have real-world consequences, yet there seems to be little effort to hold him in check. Why is he allowed to wield so much power in matters of government and national security? What can be done to ensure that billionaires like Musk don’t continue manipulating policy decisions to benefit themselves at the expense of the American people? We need elected officials—those who actually represent us—to push back against this kind of unelected influence. I appreciate your leadership and your willingness to stand up to figures who put their own interests over the public good. I hope to see more action taken to ensure that individuals like Musk are not allowed to shape policy unchecked.
