The recent salute gesture made by Stephen Bannon and echoed by others at CPAC is deeply concerning and offensive. Such gestures, even if not intended as overt Nazi symbolism, risk promoting or normalizing hateful ideologies that should be firmly rejected. We must firmly condemn any acts that embolden extremist views antithetical to our democratic values of equality, inclusion, and human rights. Aligning with or providing a platform for those who glorify oppressive regimes is unacceptable. We call on organizers and public figures to decisively disavow such inflammatory acts in order to preserve civil discourse and promote a society of mutual understanding.
